St. Augustine

Unfortunately, it’s been far too long since I’ve had the opportunity to go on a photo adventure. I do apologize for my lack of interesting stories and pictures! This weekend, though, I had the pleasure of visiting St. Augustine on a beautiful (if not scorching hot) day!

The perks of appendicitis

To be honest, there aren’t many. In fact, I can only think of two. One, they take out your appendix, thus putting an end to the searing pain. And two, the people that love you bring gorgeous flowers to brighten up your dreary hospital room.

I know these things because, well, I had appendicitis about two weeks ago. Let me tell you, it’s not fun. I don’t recommend it. I don’t think there’s a way to prevent it, but if there is, I strongly suggest you take every precaution. Intense pain; many, many hours in the emergency room; hospital food — it’s just not an enjoyable experience.

Until you realize how many people love you and care about you and genuinely mean it when they say “get well soon.” That’s what got me through those 4 long days (which literally seemed like eternity) in the hospital. That, and these gorgeous flowers!

An afternoon at the Cummer

Jacksonville is a great city. I often forget that or take it for granted, but there are seriously a ton of things to do! The river is gorgeous, there are plenty of museums and different events happen almost every weekend.

This weekend, I spent the afternoon on the Riverwalk and at The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens. It was pretty chilly, but amazingly sunny and gorgeous. And even though a few of the exhibits at the museum were closed, the gardens were stunning and the view of downtown Jacksonville never ceases to amaze.

Sunset on the river

Despite the fact that it’s quite freezing outside, I went on a quick little photo adventure today. My dad and I drove down to JU (where I work), which happens to be right on the St. Johns River, and also happens to be about 3 minutes away from our house. The sun was setting over the river and even though my fingers were numb, I enjoyed trying out my new camera for its first outdoor photo shoot!

New Camera!

For Christmas, I got an awesome new camera.

Not only is it the coolest present ever (thank you, Santa!), but it also makes all my pictures look amazing! So of course, the first thing I did was take a million pictures of whatever I could find around the house. Mostly, that was Christmas decorations.

We also took some experimental sparkler pictures on New Year’s Eve. I say experimental not because they’re particularly “artistic,” but because we were literally experimenting with the camera settings.

Expect MANY more pictures this year…hopefully the awesome camera will produce awesome photography skills! Oh, and happy New Year!

Baby, it’s cold outside!

It is literally freezing in Jacksonville. For those of you that don’t know, this is extremely rare this early in December! Don’t get me wrong, I love the cold (in small doses, I must admit), but since my fingers still haven’t quite thawed out from my drive to work, I thought I’d share this picture. I just think the colors are so warm and it reminds me of a summer sunset, even though it was taken about two days ago. Happy December, and try to stay warm!

Fallin’ for fall

Last weekend, the majority of my family gathered in Ridgefield, CT for the first family wedding! Needless to say, a great time was had by all and my cousin Sarah was a stunning bride. Of course I took hundreds of pictures at the wedding, but the day before I took a walk down Main Street and couldn’t help but fall in love with the gorgeous autumn leaves on a perfect sunny day…
